I would pay good money to see a film featuring just her reciting dialogue in the deadpan voice of hers, rapid-fire or not!
I certainly recommend both Hudsucker Proxy and Raising Arizona, but I'm not too sure about steering anyone to Crimewave. It's one of the broadest, silliest, "cartoony" films in history. A guilty pleasure, to be sure. :)Mark R. I'm fascinated to learn there is something called "The Hudsucker Trilogy"! I've not seen any of the films you cite save for "The Hudsucker Proxy" which I saw when it was released and largely remember for its stylized look and Jennifer Jason Lee's rapidfire "His Girl Friday" delivery. I think I'm overdue for a revisit in Blu-ray (if it's available) and I would certainly welcome the subtitles for all the dialogue I messed.
Thanks for such an informative contribution here!Ken Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04940648971296673233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2627032459273165000.post-1612979632758147612019-02-13T18:42:40.237-08:002019-02-13T18:42:40.237-08:00Ken,
My favorite Sam Raimi is what's known as...Ken,

My favorite Sam Raimi is what's known as "The Hudsucker Trilogy" in collaboration with the Coen Bros. First up is "Crimewave" from 1985 (although I much prefer its original title - "Broken Hearts and Noses"), an absolutely bonkers cartoonish farce directed by Raimi and cowritten with Joel and Ethan Coen. It begins and ends at a "Hudsucker Penitentiary."
Next is the Coens' "Raising Arizona" (1987), another zany comedy, in which Nic Cage works for "Hudsucker Industries." Several of the camera techniques used in Crimewave an The Evil Dead' were employed here as well.
Last, and greatest, is "The Hudsucker Proxy" (1994), directed and written by the Coens and co-written and second unit directed by Raimi. "Proxy" is easily one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it. It's gloriously loopy, hilarious, dazzling and even somewhat poignant.

MarkMark R.Y.https://markrussyoung.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2627032459273165000.post-3416147567646911052019-02-12T23:06:46.562-08:002019-02-12T23:06:46.562-08:00I know what you mean about films from the '90s...I know what you mean about films from the '90s. I don't watch that many myself, but it seems the lion's share of 90s films I've written about here have been thrillers.
This is a particularly good one because of the cast and the emotional intelligence of the script. It's not an easy job to humanely present people acting at their very worst. Rarely has it been done so well. And I like they symbolism stuff in movies, too.

Actors like Gary Cole always intrigue me, being that they make me aware of that thing where an actor can have good looks that come across as friendly, or good looks that come across as untrustworthy. Outside of The Brady Bunch Movie, Cole's looks brand him as the vaguely unsavory type.
Thanks very much for checking out this post and commenting, Poseidon!Ken Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04940648971296673233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2627032459273165000.post-73340202910351292862019-02-12T05:18:11.889-08:002019-02-12T05:18:11.889-08:00This looks (and sounds, from your presentation) re...This looks (and sounds, from your presentation) really good! I watch so few films from the late-'90s on, but if I see this one available I'll have to dig in. The cast looks really good (and I was happy to see Gary Cole, who I think is often underrated, in there, too.) I love movies that have subtle (or even not) bits of symbolism in the decor such as the crows throughout here. Thanks!Poseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.com
