You're always very kind in your comments to me and it pleases me that you find something enjoyable in my posts, what with your already vast knowledge of film.
And truly, from the first time I saw "Black Swan" it seemed to me the best Roman Polanski film Roman Polanski never made.
Thanks, Eve!Ken Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04940648971296673233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2627032459273165000.post-53866959202137850812013-01-05T13:18:59.803-08:002013-01-05T13:18:59.803-08:00Ken, I have to agree that "Black Swan" i...Ken, I have to agree that "Black Swan" is reminiscent of Polanski and would love to know his reaction to the film.

I was away from the blogosphere for a bit and when I checked in on your blog last night I noticed your "Popular Posts" gadget - I had a field day reading through them. You write with such insight and understanding - and love of film - that I always come away from your reviews having learned something and feeling inspired. Many thanks! I don't seem to see many modern movies either (I'm enamored of the 60s and 70s) but, like you, "Black Swan" really captivated me.
The similarities to "Repulsion" I see are really only mine and I can't say that they are either intentional or obvious in the film itself. Everything about "Black Swan" reminds me of a Polanski film. I like that you find something interesting in identity films, a weakness I've always had. Films like "# Women" or Bergman's "Persona" seem to me what cinema is all about.
Loved your comments, thank you for your compliments, and as always, it's great hearing from you! Beautiful review and especially interesting f...Ken,
Beautiful review and especially interesting from your perspective as a dancer. I am much more into classic films than new ones, but this is one new film that absolutely transfixed me and still does. I'll admit I didn't get the (obvious, thanks to your reference) similarities to "Repulsion," though. I love a well done psychological thriller, but I must also be drawn to films that probe identity issues (this is the third of your reviews I am commenting on tonight in which the issue of identity is prominent - the others, "The Stepford Wives" and "Vertigo").

"Black Swan" was robbed the Best Picture Oscar in 2010.
